Past Projects
A selection of repair and maintenance projects we've completed for Boston-area homeowners, condo owners, and property managers.
Plaster Restoration in Back Bay Brownstone
Back Bay, Boston · BrownstoneThis historic Back Bay brownstone had suffered decades of settling, resulting in extensive plaster cracks across the parlor, second, and third floors. The owner wanted to preserve the original character while addressing structural movement that had compromised multiple walls and ceilings. We carefully filled and skim-coated the damaged areas, matching the distinctive brownstone-era plaster texture that defines these Commonwealth Avenue–style homes. A fresh coat of period-appropriate paint completed the restoration, leaving the space feeling renewed while honoring its historic fabric.
Triple-Decker Door Overhaul in Somerville
Winter Hill, Somerville · Triple-DeckerTriple-deckers throughout Somerville often suffer from sagging, sticking doors due to century-old framing shifts. This Winter Hill property had nine interior doors across three units that either wouldn't close, hung crooked, or had failing hardware. We planed and shimmed each door to fit its frame, rehung loose hinges, and replaced worn-out latches and strike plates. The result was smooth-operation doors throughout all three units, improving daily use for tenants and the landlord alike.
Condo Kitchen Updates in Cambridge
Kendall Square, Cambridge · CondoThe kitchen in this Kendall Square condo was structurally sound but dated and worn. The owner wanted a refresh without a full remodel—new hardware, tightened cabinet boxes, and trim that had pulled away from walls and cabinets. We repaired loose hinges and drawer slides, installed consistent pulls and knobs throughout, and fixed trim gaps and nail pops. The updated kitchen now looks cohesive and well-maintained, fitting the high standards of Cambridge condo living.
Deck Rebuild in Jamaica Plain
Jamaica Plain, Boston · Single FamilyA backyard deck in Jamaica Plain had rotted boards, a wobbly railing, and years of faded stain. The owners use the deck frequently and needed it safe and attractive for outdoor entertaining. We removed and replaced the compromised boards, rebuilt the railing where it had failed, and applied a thorough stain treatment to protect against Boston’s humid summers and harsh winters. The deck is now solid, code-compliant, and ready for many more seasons of use.
September Turnover for Allston Landlord
Allston, Boston · Multi-FamilySeptember turnover in Allston is always demanding—landlords need units ready before students and tenants move in. This owner had four units needing turnover in a single week: drywall patching from nail holes and minor damage, door adjustments, and paint prep so walls were ready for their painting crew. We worked systematically through each unit, addressing tenant wear-and-tear and ensuring every unit was left clean and move-in ready for the new occupants.
Crown Molding Restoration in Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill, Boston · Historic HomeBeacon Hill’s historic homes often feature original crown molding that has been damaged by age, moisture, or prior renovations. This Louisburg Square–area residence had sections of crown that were cracked, missing, or poorly patched. We sourced and milled profiles to match the existing molding, repaired plaster keys behind damaged areas, and installed new lengths with seamless joints. The restored crown molding now runs cleanly through the main rooms, preserving the home’s Federal-era character.
Punch List for Newton Home Renovation
Newton Centre, Newton · ColonialAfter a large renovation, this Newton Centre Colonial had a 22-item punch list lingering from the contractor. The homeowner needed trim touched up, hardware aligned, and small defects addressed before closing out the project. We organized the list by area and completed it over two focused visits—fixing gaps in baseboard and crown, adjusting cabinet hinges and door stops, and resolving minor paint and caulk issues. The house was left fully finished and ready for occupancy.
Window Repair in Brookline Victorian
Coolidge Corner, Brookline · VictorianCoolidge Corner’s Victorian homes often retain original double-hung windows that need careful restoration rather than replacement. This property had eight windows with broken sash cords, stuck sashes, and failing weatherstripping, leading to drafts and difficulty operating the windows. We repaired the weight pockets, replaced sash cords and pulleys, and installed new weatherstripping around each unit. The windows now operate smoothly and provide better insulation, preserving the home’s historic look while improving comfort.
Bathroom Repairs in South End Condo
South End, Boston · CondoThe bathroom in this South End condo had several small but noticeable issues: loose tiles, deteriorating tub caulk, and towel bars that had pulled away from the walls. The owner wanted everything repaired without a full bath renovation. We re-adhered loose tiles with the correct adhesive, removed and replaced old caulk around the tub with a mildew-resistant product, and installed new towel bars anchored into studs. The bathroom now looks tidy and well-maintained, appropriate for the South End’s high standards.
Baseboard Installation in Somerville Condo
Davis Square, Somerville · CondoAfter a renovation in this Davis Square condo, the new flooring was in place but baseboards were missing, leaving an unfinished edge along the walls. The owner wanted crisp, consistent trim to match the updated space. We measured and cut baseboard for every room, coped inside corners and mitered outside corners for tight joints, and painted the trim to match the existing color scheme. The unit now reads as fully finished, with trim that suits the contemporary Davis Square condo style.
